George Ibrahim `Abdullah

The man has been convicted and sentenced in France (the court did not actually link him to the assassinations in question but convicted him on a technical passport matter) and he served his full sentence.  The US government has pressured the French government to keep him in jail.  And this week, `Abdullah was ordered released but the US government ordered the French government to keep him in jail and the French Interior Minister complied.  The story is big in Lebanon and the protest against France and the US is growing.  Nothing on the story in the US media, I noticed although the spokesperson of the US Department of State commented on the case (and was publicly cursed by protesting Lebanese youths for her remarks).
